Description

This Healthy Strawberry Sweet Tea combines the natural sweetness of fresh strawberries with the classic charm of black tea, offering a guilt-free, refreshing beverage. It’s the perfect balance of fruity, lightly sweetened goodness, with antioxidants from both strawberries and tea. A great choice for hydration on warm days, it’s a healthier alternative to traditional sugary drinks!

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups water

46 black tea bags (adjust to desired strength)

1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

1/2 cup honey or agave syrup (or less, based on sweetness preference)

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional)

Ice cubes

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew the Tea: In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 4-6 black tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for 5-7 minutes. Remove the tea bags and set aside to cool.
  2. Puree the Strawberries: While the tea is cooling, wash, hull, and slice the strawberries. Place them in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. For a chunkier texture, pulse the berries a little less.
  3. Sweeten the Tea: In a separate small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup honey (or agave syrup) with 1/2 cup of water over medium heat. Stir until the sweetener is dissolved, creating a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. Combine the Tea, Strawberry Puree, and Syrup: In a large pitcher, mix the brewed tea, strawberry puree, and simple syrup. Stir well. Taste and adjust the sweetness with additional honey/agave syrup if desired.
  5. Chill the Tea: Refrigerate the mixture for 1-2 hours to chill and allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve: Serve over ice cubes in glasses. Garnish with fresh mint leaves or a slice of lemon for an extra refreshing touch.

Notes

Sweetener options: If you prefer a sugar-free option, stevia or monk fruit sweetener can be used in place of honey or agave syrup.
