Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Coating:
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease donut pans.
  2. Reduce apple cider to ½ cup over low heat. Let cool.
  3. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, salt.
  4. Whisk wet ingredients: butter, egg, sugars, buttermilk, vanilla, and reduced cider.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently.
  6. Spoon batter into pans. Bake 12–14 minutes, until golden.
  7. While warm, brush donuts with butter and coat in cinnamon sugar.
