Description
This hearty, protein-packed turkey avocado club sandwich is layered with flavor and perfect for a satisfying lunch on the go. Ideal for work, school, or meal prep!
Ingredients
3 slices whole grain sandwich bread
4 oz sliced deli turkey breast
2 slices cooked bacon
2–3 slices ripe avocado
2 leaves green leaf lettuce or romaine
2 slices tomato
1 tbsp mayonnaise
1/2 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Butter (optional, for toasting bread)
Instructions
-
Toast the bread (optional): Lightly toast all three slices of bread to add crispness and prevent sogginess in your lunch box. You can butter the bread before toasting for extra flavor if desired.
-
Prepare the spread: In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and Dijon mustard (if using). Spread a thin layer on one side of each piece of bread.
-
Assemble the base layer: On the bottom slice, layer the lettuce, turkey slices, and avocado. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper over the avocado for added flavor.
-
Middle slice: Place the second slice of bread on top of the avocado, mayo-side down. Then, add tomato slices and cooked bacon on top.
-
Top and press: Cap the sandwich with the third slice of bread, mayo-side down. Gently press to set the layers.
-
Slice and secure: Use a sharp knife to cut the sandwich diagonally into halves or quarters. Use toothpicks if packing to keep the layers in place.
Wrap and store: Wrap in parchment paper or a sandwich box to keep it fresh for your lunch box.
Notes
You can swap the turkey for grilled chicken or roast beef for a twist. To prevent the sandwich from getting soggy, pat tomato slices dry before adding and pack avocado just before eating.
