- 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), peeled and diced
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- ½ tsp allspice
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup milk
- Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp coarse sugar (for crunch)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease loaf pan.
- Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, spices, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugars. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk. Fold in diced apples.
- Pour batter into loaf pan. Bake 55–65 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
- Prepare glaze: whisk powdered sugar, milk, and cinnamon.
- Pour glaze over warm loaf. Sprinkle coarse sugar on top.
Notes
- Use two types of apples for best flavor.
Swap half the butter for applesauce for a lighter loaf.
Store at room temp 3 days, freeze up to 2 months.
